Posting Description: Jr. High ELA (grades 6-8) 

Certifications:  ELA 6-8 certification and Special Education K-12 certification.

Newark Charter School is looking for a candidate to teach Middle  School Special Education English Language Arts. The candidate will be responsible for developing Instructional goals that are aligned to Delaware State Standards and the mission of Newark Charter School of Excellence in Academics and Decorum.  Collaborate with all stakeholders to design & implement rigorous lesson plans. Create and select student assessments that demonstrate student learning of instructional goals and mastery of content.  Creating and sustaining a positive, supportive, and collaborative learning environment that maximizes learning encourages respect for all students. The successful candidates will have a deep knowledge of content and pedagogy. Candidates will oversee special education students, develop, and revise individual plans, and support students with specific educational needs. Candidates must be committed to building strong relationships with students and families and demonstrate expertise in working with students with disabilities.

Reports to: Building Principal

Terms of Employment: 10-month Position

Salary: Commensurate with degree level and experience

Minimum Qualifications: Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for Middle-Level English/ELA or Secondary English. Special Education Certification preferred.

  • Engage in professional learning and be committed to continual growth and improvement as an educator.
  • Prioritize parental engagement in the instructional program and as partners to ensure the academic success of all students.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Promote high expectations for behavior standards and enforce the Code of Conduct.
  • Contribute to the school community outside of the instructional program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Standard Requirements: Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
