Sawtelle Learning Center is a New Jersey State Board of Education approved, private, non-profit school for students ages 5-21, presenting with autism spectrum disorder or other related disabilities. Sawtelle Learning Center provides intensive individualized instruction and behavioral support based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).   

YCS is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher to service Sawtelle Learning Center in Montclair. Sawtelle Learning Center offers outstanding educational and related services for students. The school offers a high degree of structure, individualized instruction, excellent staff to student ratio and the systematic use of behavioral teaching techniques.  

We believe that each student has unique capabilities that can be developed when given the proper specialized education. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide quality education for the students in accordance with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards.  

• Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, BCBA, and support staff to create individualized education plans (IEPs).  

• Develop individualized programs, prepare lessons and instructional materials. 

• Assess and monitor student progress, making modifications as needed to promote student growth. 

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. 

• Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree  

• Valid New Jersey Teacher of Handicapped or Students with Disabilities teaching certification 

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills 

Job Type: 

Full-Time 

Schedule: 

• 7.25 hour shift 

• Monday to Friday
