2024-2025 Lunch Helper - Part-time
St. Walter Catholic School; Roselle, IL

Position available: Immediate Opening
 

WorkSchedule Status: Part-time, (unbenefited) position. $14-$15 per hour. Work hours may not exceed 29 hours per week.
The Part-time Lunch Helper will work each Monday - Friday 11:15. - 1:15 p.m. that classes are in session as per a schedule developed by the Principal.
 
Lunchroom and Playground Helper
Seeking an energetic and dynamic Lunch Helper who will work from 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. each Monday through Friday that school is in session. Ideal candidates are individuals who are interested in interacting with elementary school students, helping them to follow lunch/recess rules, and maintaining a safe environment while the students enjoy lunch and recess. In addition, the applicant must be willing to help teach children how to use indoor voices while enjoying lunch, help teach table manners, help distribute milk and hot lunches, and help to maintain a welcoming lunch environment for all.
 
Ministerial Expectations
The Lunch Helper is considered a ministerial employee by their role working in a Catholic School and agree to work diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. By word and example Catholic school employees support all the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout their personal and professional lives. Lunch Helpers agree to play a substantial role in conveying the Catholic Church’s message and carrying out its mission.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
  • Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, feel with hands, reach with arms, walk up or down multiple flights of stairs, and be physically able to perform duties as assigned, including the ability to lift up to 20-30 pounds if needed.
  • Works in standard office and school building environments but also has ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
Education and Experience
  • Must enjoy being with young children of elementary and middle school age.
  • Experience not required but is a plus.
  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related discipline is a plus but not required.
  • Licensure: Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL), SUB, or ELS(PARA) is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills are essential to success.
  • Practicing Catholic (preferred, required for religion teachers).
