Title: Middle School Sideline Spirit Coach
Reports To: Director of Athletics & ExtraCurricular Programs
Employee Type: Part-time, Seasonal (Winter, during MS Basketball season)
Summary
CCS Middle School Sideline Spirit coach is responsible for all athletes and managers, team functions, practices,
and contests on their assigned team. They provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and high
standards. They report directly to the Athletic Director. The successful candidate should have prior experience in
cheerleading, dance, step, or stomp cheerleading.
Job Responsibilities
? To plan and implement the coaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning.
? Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records.
? Participate in athletics’ award programs and its planning.
? Advocate fundraising for the athletic department.
? Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program during daily
practices, games, and team events.
? Attend all practices and contests (3-4/week). Coaches must ride the provided transportation to and from
all contests. The Athletic Director must approve all exceptions.
? Provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of
environmental conditions.
? Issue, collect, and inventory team uniforms.
? Perform other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal.
? Ensure that at least one coach stays with all team members until the last student is picked up.
? Provide Athletic Director with concussion and cardiac arrest certifications before season begins.
? Implement CCS’s concussion management policy.
? Recruit and supervise assistant coaches
Qualifications
? Prior experience in cheer, dance, step or stomp cheerleading (required) and prior experience coaching
(preferred).
? Demonstrated competence as a leader and the ability to work in a team environment.
? Demonstrated competence in all areas of content responsibility.
? Demonstrated superior organizational skills.
? Demonstrated superior leadership skills.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
? Flexibility with work schedule to accommodate evening, weekend, and holiday games and tournaments
as needed.
? Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with teachers, administrators,
parents, students, and outside contacts.
? Demonstrated ability to work under periods of stress due to the level of responsibility of the position.
? Knowledge of computer software and operations and proficient with Google email and drive.
? Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School.
