The YCS Educational Division serves students, grades K–8, with diverse behavioral issues at the YCS George Washington School in Bergen County. The academic environment is highly task-oriented. Class sizes are small and individual attention assures the success necessary to develop healthy self-esteem. We believe that each student has unique capabilities that can be developed when given the proper setting. Therefore, our students are encouraged to develop their abilities in gym, art, creative writing and music instruction. The special education program that YCS offers in New Jersey could easily serve as a model for all education. The innovative approach to teaching attracts dedicated teachers who, in turn, create the right environment for educating children with special needs.

Duties Include:

  • Develop and implement individualized health and physical education programs for students with special needs.
  • Adapt and modify physical activities, sports programs, and health education lessons to accommodate various abilities and disabilities.
  • Promote physical fitness, health, coordination, and social skills through engaging and inclusive activities.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to support their physical, social, and health development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during health and physical activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Special Education, Adaptive Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification in Health and Physical Education
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education and health education principles and practices.
