Facilities/Grounds Journeyman Lead - Community Education

JOB GOAL:
To supervise as well as perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the preparation and maintenance of the grounds and athletic fields associated with facility rentals. Perform maintenance and repairs that require a general knowledge of maintenance. Ensure clean, sanitary, healthy conditions throughout the facility and grounds. Work cooperatively with students, staff and community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license.
- Must pass a background clearance
- Must obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Position requires the following physical demands: be able to lift up to 50 lbs., be able to exert 50-60 lbs. of force frequently, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop or kneel.
- General knowledge and skills of landscaping/groundskeeping areas as well as general maintenance.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be able to work outside in Arizona weather conditions.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 260 Days; 12 Months
COMPENSATION: $21.77- $25.68
BENEFITS: As per District policy

HOURS: 40 hours per week
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exemptPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Prepare fields for facility rentals to include lining, dragging, watering, and performing general field prep. May require coordination with grounds team for initial direction. (Football, baseball, and Soccer fields.)
- Be able to run lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmer, blowers, tractors with their attachment, and pull trailers.
- Need to know the basics of operating a sprinkler system and how it works.
- Ensure that all rental sites always look their best.
- Establish and maintain records for materials and parts required to submit work orders and construction projects.
- Interface with outside renters during rental period to ensure facilities meet expectations.
- Schedule may include evenings and weekends as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Community Education.
- Handle general daily maintenance needs as required for rentals.
- Determine, in conjunction with the supervisor, the priorities on a daily, short-term and long-term basis.
- Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Exhibit exemplary public relations; must establish positive relationships with all staff members, and must abide by the rules of confidentiality.
- Be familiar with all necessary safety procedures in all areas of campus operations, and with all types of equipment and materials on campus and within the building; take safety considerations into account at all times.
- Inspect the facility for safety hazards on a routine basis.
