POSITION TITLE: Bilingual Liaisons 

FTE: Hourly $16.50*
*This is a grant funded, hourly position 

POSITION LOCATION: Multiple Locations Available 

Reporting Relationship: EL Director and School Principal 

 



Description: The bilingual liaison’s main role is establishing effective communication between home and school. The district aims to create a cohort of bilingual liaisons to support our efforts to provide language support for our EL families. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
Proof of completion of at least 60 college credit hours, Bachelor's degree preferred. Ability to speak at least one language other than English preferred 
Most frequent languages needed: Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Pashto/Dari 
Ability to support bilingual families with an understanding of all school functions Availability to participate in district-sponsored professional development. Willingness to work with families from any language background if the need arises. Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse families 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Work under the direct supervision of EL teacher, content area, or building administrator. Provide transition support to ELs using English and/or the student's native language. Support the classroom/content area teacher with specific information that will facilitate the academic and cultural progress of the student. 
Communicate with families when asked to do so to help facilitate classroom learning. Translate at meetings and conferences when asked to do so by your building administrator. Communicate with your supervising teacher on a regular basis. 
Attend Family Out-Reach events sponsored by the school district 
Reach out to families to provide school information and/or updates in a language familiar to the family 
To promote student advocacy by supporting families’ rights to engage meaningfully with educators about their children’s academic language development and its relationship to academic achievement in a language they understand.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: 
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and parents.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Work with diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups. 
Work with a minimum amount of supervision.
