JOB TITLE: PRESCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL COACH - Anticipated
REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum and Instruction
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Preschool Instructional Coach appointed on or after September 1, 2007, shall at minimum, hold a preschool through grade three or equivalent preschool certification, as set forth in N.J.A.C. 6A:9B.
Three years’ experience teaching in preschool programs
Experience in implementing developmentally appropriate preschool curricula
Experience with a range of appropriate early childhood assessments, including performance-based assessment instruments and classroom quality assessment instruments
Experience providing professional development to classroom teachers
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Expertise in assessment, data collection, and data analysis
Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Independent use of word processing, E-Mail, Internet, Excel/Google Sheets, and appropriate software applications is highly desirable.
JOB GOAL:
The goal of the Preschool Instructional Coach is to enhance the academic and social-emotional development of preschool children by supporting teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate, data-driven instructional strategies and interventions. The coach will collaborate with administrators, the director of curriculum, child study teams, counselors, behavior specialists, special education and general education teachers, parents, and staff to design, implement, and monitor individualized interventions and enrichments. By providing professional development, conducting assessments, and applying the 3-Tier RTI process, the coach will ensure that all students achieve academic proficiency and demonstrate growth.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and consult with teachers to design and implement individualized and small group instruction, ensuring the curriculum is differentiated to meet diverse student needs through targeted enrichment and intervention strategies.
Design and deliver ongoing professional development sessions that address the specific needs and goals of preschool teachers, focusing on best practices in early childhood education, classroom management, and instructional strategies.
Conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive, personalized feedback to teachers to help them refine their instructional techniques, implement effective teaching strategies, and enhance their classroom environment
Establish and lead collaborative learning environments where teachers can share experiences, challenges, and successes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Assist teachers in collecting and analyzing student data to identify areas of need, set achievable goals, and tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs for all students.
Interpret assessment results with administration, teaching staff, and the community; developing and maintaining records and reports, as necessary to inform instructional decisions and enhance program effectiveness
Assist certified staff in their efforts to maintain professional competence and improvement through in-service education, planning meetings, and professional growth activities.
Participate in the evaluation of district curricular, instructional, intervention and enrichment programs and make recommendations for improvements based on data analysis and teacher feedback, as appropriate. Assists in allocation of SIA and other instructional funding, as necessary.
Participate in district-level and school-level planning, scheduling, faculty meetings, committees and other school system groups with a focus on student achievement and growth.
Maintain personal professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
Analyze internal benchmarks and NJDOE data for trends in proficiency and growth for overall grade-levels as well as subgroups.
Support school administrators in the design, implementation, and monitoring of school-wide intervention programming.
Support scheduling of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions and review ongoing intervention student performance in collaboration with relevant staff.
Uphold and enforces school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
Perform other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
