Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Provide direct instructional services to students in the Orthopedic Impairment and Vision Impairment programs. 

PAY GRADE:  190 - Grade 04 - Salary Range:  $24,300.00 to $36,893.00Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience.

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  190 Days (10 Months)

REPORTS TO:  Special Education Coordinator

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:  High School Diploma.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:  

GACE Paraprofessional Test 
Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certificate 
60 Semester Hours/90 Quarter Hours or successfully passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment  
Paraprofessional or substitute teacher experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Sedentary work:  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; sedentary work involves sitting most of the time; jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  1. Willing to learn how to operate assistive technology devices.
  1. Provide instruction to students served through the Orthopedic Impairment (OI) program.
  1. Teachers in the OI program directly supervise the position.
  1. Some travel between schools is necessary.
