Responsible To: On-Site Director, Assistant Director of School Age Child Care, Director of School Age Child Care
Job Summary: The caregiver must be able to supervise and work creatively with children in a group setting before and after school. The caregiver is able to work collaboratively with the on-site director.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the on-site director.
- Supervise and work creatively with children in a group setting before and after school.
- Greets children and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm each day.
- Assist in the implementation of daily activities for students.
- Promotes feelings of trust and security in children.
- Visually supervise students.
- Interact with students positively while supporting their growth and development.
- Enforce program rules but leave issues of behavior management to the on-site director.
- Maintain a friendly rapport with parents and building staff.
- Assist with implementing daily activities.
- Attend at least 16 hours of training/professional development each calendar year.
- Follows all rules and regulations established with the Bureau of Children and Adult
- Licensing of the Michigan Department of Human Services
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assists all staff with cleaning and sanitizing responsibilities.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Child care background is preferred.
- Must pass the State of Michigan Comprehensive Background Check
- Must meet minimum State Licensing Requirements.
- TB Test on file
- CPR and First Aid Certified (we will provide)
- Must be able to effectively carry out all above mentioned job responsibilities.
- Work in a professional manner with On-Site Director, other caregivers, administrators.
- Be punctual and in attendance daily.
Physical Conditions:
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the work day in order to supervise children while doing daily activities that include participating in gym and playground activities.
- Must have the physical stamina to care for energetic children
- Required to bend, sit on the floor, run and engage in other physical activities
Working Conditions:
- $12.71/hour.
- Must be able to work morning and after school care.
- We offer 9 month and 12-month positions. (12-month positions work through the summer for Camp O’Fun.)
- M-F 7:00a - 8:30a (9:05 AM on late-start Mondays)
- M-F 3:30p - 6:30p

**Candidates hired for this position will be employed through www.EduStaff.org, the educational staffing partner of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, and will be required to complete a separate Edustaff application and orientation once an employment offer is received.
Selection Procedure:
The successful candidate must meet the State standard for a clear criminal history and provide mandated
fingerprint clearance.
