Must hold a certificate issued by Illinois State Board of Education.
The certificate must be in one of the following types: Professional Educator License, ELS(PARA) - Educator w/Stipulations.
The certificate position area must be in one of the following areas: Elementary Teacher, English as a Second Language (EFL/ELL/ESL/ESOL).
The certificate must be in one of the following grades: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th.
The certificate status must be active.
Description
Effectively convey complex English language concepts in a way that is understandable to learners with varying proficiency levels. Patience and adaptability are also vital, considering the varied learning paces and styles of ESL students. Screen all incoming students for ELL services based on HLS - Create parent notification of ELL screener scores and services that the student qualifies for - Create ELL file for student based on ISBE guidelines - Provide scaffolding supports for ELL students based on their needs - Provide extra English supports through a push in, pull out, or collaborative teaching model - Work closely with classroom teacher to align instruction/supports for ELL students - Front load concepts/information, introduce new concepts/information, or review concepts/information for ELL students based on curriculum - Help students strengthen their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills using appropriate materials and supports
