JOB SUMMARY:
The Bilingual Aide (Spanish) will support students with limited English skills. This person will work cooperatively with our EL teachers to help students district-wide.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Illinois Educator License with Stipulations issued by ISBE endorsed as a Paraprofessional
Knowledge of basic office equipment and/or programs such as:
Personal computer, email, Google Docs, copy machine, document shredder, etc.
Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
Excellent interpersonal skills with various people: students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English to understand directions to communicate with students and staff
Able to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA regulations.
IL Licensed driver with a clean driving record for the past three years.
MAJOR DUTIES & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

To assist the teacher in providing a well-organized, efficient, and highly functioning class environment that enhances the instructional program and uses multiple resource materials
With the teacher, guide and facilitate classroom activities and support.
Provide English Language Learner support to students district-wide, including communication with parents.
Evaluate student progress and record data.
Participate in conferences with parents and staff when appropriate
Assist in assessing students, including the ACCESS test
Interprets for Spanish-speaking children in all classrooms as needed
Recognize opportunities to fade support when applicable.
Observe and adhere to all Board of Education policies and regulations as well as administrative rules and procedures.
Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth and development by attending meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Demonstrate professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills.
Promote a positive image of District 117. Serve as a positive role model to students in instructional settings.
