The need for substitute paraprofessionals varies throughout the school year.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This on call/substitute position supports teachers with supervision and redirection to ensure successful inclusion of all children including those with identified special needs, including significant needs and affective needs, with in-class and small group instruction. Other duties may include, but are not limited to serving meals, clerical support, following of individual student plans, and material preparation. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders. The position involves riding the bus and providing student supervision on the bus to and from the work site during morning and afternoon bus runs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate and support small groups of students.
Promote a learning environment that respects the dignity of the child and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
Elicit responses from every member of the group.
Ensure understanding of material by all students.
Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
Establish student, staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
Provide student supervision in groups, at recess, at lunch, and on field trips.
Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings to support instructional programming.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
High School Graduate or equivalent (preferred).
Bilingual (preferred).
English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred).

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequent lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
Frequent sitting, bending, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment may be noisy.
Frequent encounter with odors, and bodily fluids.

Early Childhood/ Pre-K at Maddox
RATE OF COMPENSATION:
Hourly rate is $19.79 - $22.39, depending on comparable experience and qualifications.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
New hires or rehires will be responsible for the $49.50 fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
