Hours: Monday-Friday / 4hrs per day
191 days per school year (180 work days plus 11 paid holidays)

Start Date: August 14, 2024

Salary: Range 15 (Step D-$16.34 to Step G-$19.41)

Job Description YARD DUTY SUPERVISOR
Classified Employees Salary Schedule – Range 15

I. DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the site administrator, the yard duty employee is responsible for the control and safety of school children during non-instructional periods including before and after school assignments. The yard duty employee is directly responsible to the site administrator.

II. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: A. Education • Graduation from high school or its equivalent is required. B. Experience • Job experience related to the supervision of children is preferred. C. Knowledge of: • Working cooperatively with students and faculty. • Conflict resolution techniques. • Discipline procedures and safety requirements. • Physical activities and game rules. • First Aid and CPR. D. Ability to: • Be reliable and prompt. • Learn and follow District policies and procedures. • Work cooperatively with others. • Maintain discipline and control of students engaged in a variety of activities. • Understand and carry our oral and written directions.

III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: duties include, but are not limited to the following: • Supervise students before, during, and after school at various campus locations including bus stops. • Maintain a harmonious atmosphere on the playground and school campus. • Enforce school discipline and safety rules and regulations and consults with superiors as needed to maintain order and safety. • Attend to/report injuries of students and determine the need for further medical attention. • Ability to support students in safely crossing streets and provide supervision while students wait for District Transportation. • Perform other related duties as assigned.

IV. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS: of this position are, but not limited to, the following: • See and hear well enough to effectively supervise students. • Speak well enough to be heard by students indoors and outdoors and to converse on the phone. • Manual dexterity to manipulate locks. • Ability and willingness to stand and walk for long periods of time. • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift. • Ability to hear normal conversations.

V. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment:Indoor and outdoor environment. Hazards: Adverse weather conditions, and potential physical hazards involved in intervening in anti-social behavior.
