Position Title: American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED and Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor
Department/Section: Exceptional Student Services
Supervisor: Director of Equity, Inclusion, and Support
Summary of Function: Responsible for providing instruction and teaching AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED and BLS courses according to the guidelines and requirements of the AHA. Position includes instruction, class set up, class clean up, equipment decontamination, and submitting course paperwork. Evening and weekend availability is required as needed.
• Organizes and sets up course equipment for class.
• Sets up roster, greets course attendees, and oversees sign-in.
• Distributes CPR FA manuals to participants.
• Instructs course following program guidelines utilizing course videos and program materials as required by each program.
• Ensures a safe and welcoming classroom environment.
• Tests students as required.
• Disinfects all equipment used following decontamination policy, stores equipment.
• Cleans classroom after class.
• Completes roster and all required paperwork, submits paperwork digitally.
• Completes other tasks as required.
• Ability to speak confidently in front of a classroom as well as able to hear, understand, and respond to course
participant questions.
• Physically able to perform and demonstrate the lifesaving skills of BLS, CPR AED, and First Aid.
• Must be enthusiastic, responsible, articulate, well-organized, and dependable.
• At this time, classes are held on Saturdays.
Required Education and Experience
• Hold current AHA BLS Provider certification or higher.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements
Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement is required to perform the aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting and moving for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, sitting, standing, kneeling, bending over, crouching, pushing, pulling, and lifting equipment bags/totes up to 40 pounds. Verbal communication ability required.
Equipment, Aids, Tools and Materials
Uses office equipment which includes but is not limited to: computers, video projectors, white boards, and office or instructional equipment. FUSD recognizes ever-changing development of technology but expects all staff to keep abreast of changing technology opportunities and use tools and devices provided to them.

Communicate verbally and in writing. Read. Analyze and evaluate data and reports. Develop, implement and evaluate plans. Manage work environment. Promote learning and ensure safety. Perform functions from written and oral instruction and from observing and listening to others.
