Description

PEKIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS DISTRICT 108 ANNOUNCES THE FOLLOWING VACANCY FOR THE 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR:

 

AT-RISK COUNSELOR

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE JOB DESCRIPTION FOR "AT-RISK COUNSELOR" IS UNDER REVIEW

 

INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES TO STUDENTS (50% OF DAY)

*Teach kids as assigned within the building literacy plan, NCLB School-Wide Plan, and/or the School Improvement Plan.

*Teach and/or Support students as assigned in support of At-Risk Committee Decisions.

GOAL 2 SERVICES TO STUDENTS AN STAFF (50% OF DAY)

Serve member of a building level At-Risk Team

*Collaborate with partnered At-Risk Instructors to accomplish all responsibilities identified in either job description.

Co-Facilitate At-Risk Committees in assigned buildings

*Convene and chair meetings of the At-Risk Committee in assigned school(s).

*Conduct Child-Find activities to identify students potentially at risk of failure by collecting, analyzing and monitoring data.   

*Conduct intake data collection, case management, and record keeping

Provide Social/Emotional Services

*Facilitate Social-Emotional Curriculum/Instruction

   Assist in design of district social-emotional curriculum.

   Assist in classroom implementation of social-emotional district curriculum.

   Provide targeted professional development through workshops, consultation, collaboration, etc.

*Provide Support for Crisis Response

   Help design district Crisis Response Plan.

   Oversee Building Crisis Response Plan.

*Provide Responsive Services

   Perform short-term personal counseling with students, parents,and/or school personnel to identify obstacles to student achievement and address them if possible within the short term format.

   Supervise the referral of students to, and serve as liaison with, such outside agencies as the Welfare Department, Child Placement Bureau, Juvenile Court, and the like, as appropriate.

   Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on an at-risk student's background.

   Provide in-service training in guidance for teachers and student teachers.

   Advise administrators and faculty on the matters of student discipline.

   Support assigned At-Risk Instructor (Goal 2 Focus)

   Intervene in social/emotional crises in assigned primary school(s)
