Description

Primary Purpose:

The role of the Student Nutrition truck driver is to transport food items from the central food site to campus cafeterias.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Food manager certification
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Good driving record.
  • Self-starter
  • Responsible
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
 
Experience:
  • Experience driving lightweight van and one-ton truck

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support board and administrative polices and decisions.
  • Maintain professional work environment through a positive attitude, punctuality, regular attendance, phone etiquette, and personal appearance.
  • Deliver Student Nutrition items as required.
  • Proper use and maintenance of truck.
  • Observe rules of safety and sanitation of food handling and work.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Communication Skills.
  • Assist in prep on non-delivery days.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure that food items are stored in safe and hazard-free environment.
  • Establish and enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety following health and safety codes and regulations.
  • Maintain safe work environment.
Inventory and Equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report needed equipment repairs.
  • Conduct physical equipment and supplies inventory as required.

Equipment Used:

Large and small kitchen equipment to include, but is not limited to a mixer, pressure steamer,
sharp cutting tools, oven(s), dishwasher, and food and utility cart.

Physical Demands:

Lift and carry heavy items, exceeding 45 pounds.
Ability to sit, pull, push, reach, and climb.
Repetitive hand motions.
Hear well.
Speak clearly.
Visual acuity.
Distinguish colors.
Heavy driving.
 

Working Conditions:

Mental Conditions/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
 
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying; some stooping, bending, and kneeling; limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  
Wage/Hour Status: Non Exempt
 
Pay Grade: Auxiliary - 2
