2025-26 Teacher Aide and Hall Monitor Positions (Posted April 25, 2025)

Type of Position:
Non-Certified IMRF Position. Must have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License or an Illinois Paraprofessional Educator License registered in Jackson County.
 
Workday/Year:
8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on student attendance days during the 2024-25 school year unless notified otherwise by the Building Principal.
 
Wage and Benefit Package:
1.   Wage: $16.25 per hour; Pay Dates: 10th and 25th each month

Teacher Aide/E.O.C. Aide Job Description
Reports To: Special Education Director
 
Job Goal:  
To assist the Special Education Director and special education teachers in the performance of their job duties and assist students to pursue their education in the most efficient and complete manner possible.
 
Responsibilities:
1.   Perform tasks for special education teachers as needed; i.e., run errands, work with students by reading to them or providing other needed assistance, grade papers, make phone calls, take roll, and provide any other assistance that may be required.
2.   Provide escort and assistance to handicapped students as necessary. 
3.   Alert the teacher to special needs of individual students.
4.   Assist with large group activities as directed by the teacher.
5.   Assist with supervision of students.
6.   Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director and/or the special education teacher.
 
Terms of Employment:
Non-Certified (IMRF) position.  Wage, workday and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
 
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Special Education Director
 
Termination of Employment:Termination of employment shall be in conformance with Board of Education Policy.
 
Hall Monitor Job Description
Reports To:  Building Principal
 
Responsibilities:
 1.  Enforce all rules, regulations, and policies enacted by the Board of Education.  As appropriate, document infractions on designated forms.
 2.  Monitor hallways to ensure all persons and activities are authorized to be there.
 3.  Greet and check-in all visitors.
 4.  Immediately report any unusual or suspicious observations to administrators or teachers.
 5.  Intervene in any hallway or classroom disruptions. 
 6.  Escort problem students to the office. 
 7.  Monitor bus loading, unloading, and/or parking lots.
 8.  Encourage students to get to class on time.
 9.  Constantly monitor assigned posts/areas or circulate throughout the school.
10. Recognize at-risk students and monitor their behavior.
11. When classes are in session, stop students in hallways and verify hall passes.
12. Supervise lunch periods, and before and after school times.
13. Assist the ACR Monitor and substitute for him/her if requested.
14. Escort students during the day to and from ACR.
15. Patrol perimeter of school periodically.
16. Be thoroughly familiar with responsibilities unique to each hall monitor position.
17. All other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or School Resource Officer.
