School Counselor, Wirt County Primary Center

POSITION:      School Counselor, Wirt County Primary Center                    
CONTRACT: 210-day contract, 2025-2026 school year                 
QUALIFICATIONS:            
 

1. Must hold or be eligible for certification as a school counselor as per policy 5202
2. Must have ability to communicate and work effectively with students, school administrators, school personnel, and parents
3. Demonstrates organizational and management skills as per alignment with WV School Counseling Model and the School Counseling Plan
4. Educational philosophy compatible with the Wirt County Board of Education
5. Understanding of and demonstrated proficiency in the tenants of upholding confidentiality for the protection and support of students and families

 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

1. Implement and provide leadership for the Comprehensive School Counseling Program
2. Facilitate delivery of Student Success Standards
3. Align professional practice with the WV school counselor standards and elements
4. Provide developmental guidance curriculum to students as per state guidelines
5. Provide instruction and coordination of the delivery of the foundational student standards as described in Policy 2315 and Policy 2520.19
6. Guides continuous program improvement through multiple forms of evaluation
7. Analyze and evaluate student data through collaboration with school leadership to determine the impact on student learning
8. Large and small group instruction on universal prevention and targeted interventions
9. Implements and provides leadership in data governance, student confidentiality issues, and links to outside the school environment services for children and families
10. Follows all regulations such as FERPA, Safe and Supportive Schools, Family Supports

Other responsibilities as assigned by the school principal or superintendent
 
SUPERVISOR:  Principal
SALARY:  Wirt County Salary Scale for teachers based on degree and years’ experience
