Drivers Education (Traffic Ed.) Instructor

Stipend: $30.00/hour

Closing Date: Until filled

Three Forks High School is looking for a driver's education instructor to help instruct our students. Our first session begins in early May and our second session begins in early July.

Job Skills

The primary task as a driving instructor is to demonstrate how to safely operate a motor vehicle. Instructors must first present lessons in the classroom to teach students about driving laws and driver courtesy. Instructors also explain how a car operates, how to perform safety checks and what to do in case of an emergency. After the classroom instruction, instructors will accompany students as they apply that knowledge behind the wheel of a vehicle. Instructors will work with students in a small group setting.

A driver's education teacher must be able to communicate well with students. They must have the capability to work with individuals with a wide range of skills. The driving instructor must be patient.

Job Requirements

  • Have Traffic Education Minor/Endorsement
    • District will pay for the required training (cost of credits, travel, etc.)
    • Training will be offered in Miles City in the summer (some credits are online).

      • MSU-Northern is headed to Miles City and will be offering TED 462/562 Methods of Behind-the-Wheel Instruction at Miles Community College! Click HERE for the initial 8-credit course schedule. Please note that the Methods of Behind-the-Wheel Instruction course will not be scheduled in Havre. Advance registration for Summer begins March 27, 2026. Students planning to register for the initial 8 credits can APPLY FOR ADMISSION now. A schedule with all traffic education courses will be available after the new year.     • Instructors must have 8 credits to become provisionally certified to teach Traffic Education.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff and students.
  • Facilitate meetings with parents/guardians and students.
