Maintenance Supervisor
Position Function:
To provide appropriate maintenance of school grounds and facilities in the school district.

To provide appropriate maintenance of school grounds and facilities in the school district.
Essential Functions:
The Maintenance supervisor accepts and discharges the following responsibilities:
- Inspects buildings, premises, and equipment for needs and reports finding to the superintendent.
- Determines electrical, plumbing, and mechanical needs of the system and reports findings to the superintendent.
- Arranges for corrective maintenance and inspection work.
- Work with principals in the upkeep of parish school buildings.
- Maintains records of work completed.
- Keeps abreast of federal, state, and local codes involving safety in schools.
- Maintains an inventory of materials and supplies and makes requisitions as needed.
The supervisor assumes these management responsibilities and decisions in areas of specialization as evidenced by skills in:
- Planning and implementing conferences and in-service training.
- Making presentations to the school board when requested.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records/reports.
- Maintaining an effective system of distribution of supplies and materials to the schools.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel between schools, or between schools and central office, may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
- Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Ability to work above ground from ladders.
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents and contaminated trash, grasses, pollens, etc.
- Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
- High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- [LA] Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
