Location: Bishop Verot Catholic High School | Fort Myers, FL
Overview:
Bishop Verot Catholic High School within the Diocese of Venice in Florida, Inc. works diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. By word and example teachers support all of the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout their personal and professional lives.
Guidance Counselors are witness the tenets of the Catholic Faith, instill a sense of Christ’s mission, charity and service to others; draw the school community into worship and build, support and maintain a Catholic culture throughout the School and create a vibrant Catholic culture, emphasized through words, deeds, manner of dress and actions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Holds developmental counseling groups and other activities for grade levels throughout the year
- Consults with and provides resources to teachers in their facilitation of instruction
- Conducts structured, goal-oriented counseling sessions to identify needs of individuals or groups of children.
- Assists in implementation, delivery and analysis of all school-wide testing programs.
- Participates in staff and parental meetings to discuss student academic and social development plans and strategies for improvement
- Provides opportunity for teacher and parent education programs; assist families with school-related issues.
- Refers children and their parents to special programs and specialists such as psychologists, service agencies and physicians as needed
- Pursue professional growth
- Any other assignments made by the Principal
- Minimum of a master’s degree in School Counseling
- Certification in School Counseling in the State of Florida or eligibility to obtain such licensure
- Strong understanding and knowledge of current counseling methods and educational pedagogy
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Proficiency with computer network systems and software programs
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Undergoing a FDLE Level 2 background check
