Long Term Classroom Assistant, Springfield Local Schools

Qualifications

• Clean criminal background.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent. A Bachelor's or Associates Degree (in any field of study) is preferred. (*Applicants that do not have a Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree will be required to pass a paraprofessional test.)
• Three (3) positive professional references.
• Experience working with school aged children. 

• Able to obtain an Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license
• FBI & BCI Background checks dated within 12 months (Cost varies per agency)

Responsibilities

• Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher.
• Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Keeps students safe and engaged.
• Exhibits proper classroom management techniques.
• Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.
• Documents lesson plans.
• Maintains student records/performance.
• Follows the Individualized Education Program (IEP) of the student.

• Days: Monday - Friday, following the school calendar
• Duration: date of hire - end of the school year
• Various grade level positions available (preschool, elementary, high school)
• Enrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
