Long-Term Substitute Teacher
General Description:
Under the supervision of the School Administrator, the Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing classroom coverage for a teacher who is absent for an extended period of time or a vacant position. The long-term substitute works the regular hours of the absent classroom teacher during his/her absence. Minimal or no travel required, other than visits to other local school sites or the Business Office (as needed).
Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities and Duties includes the following:
• Serves as a substitute teacher for assigned campus and class(es).
• Follows classroom systems/procedures established by the School Administrator and classroom teacher, and manages student behavior in alignment with school wide practices to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers to create weekly lesson plans/overviews
• Plan rigorous lessons aligned to the Ohio Department of Education Common Core standards
• Differentiate lesson plans for a variety of learners (kinesthetic, gifted students, English Language Learners, and/or students with IEPs, etc.)
• Implement feedback from administrator regarding lesson plans and/or execution
• Establish and maintain positive classroom environment
• Support instruction with school-wide supplemental and intervention programs
• Maintain grade books and meet reporting deadlines
• Communicate with families regarding student academics and behavior
• Demonstrate genuine care for all students
• Actively participate in professional development sessions
• Communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, parents, and students
• Input daily attendance procedures each period using School Information Systems (SIS)
• Enthusiastically participate in district and school-wide events
• Support with Independent Study as needed
• Support teacher grading for long term in house subbing assignments
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Valid Ohio Department of Education substitute teaching license
• Preferred: 2 or more years of successful classroom teaching experience
