Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess: (1) an earned doctorate in education or a related field with K-12 experience; (2) a record of outstanding teaching and research; (3) at least two years of successful administrative experience with budget and personnel responsibility as a dean, associate dean, chair, or K-12 senior administrator; (4) a thorough understanding of the accreditation process; (5) a commitment to diversity and equity; (6) a demonstrated focus on consensus building, collaborative leadership, collegiality, and integrity; (7) evidence of initiatives that enhance both off-campus and on-campus enrollment; (8) experience in collaborative work with local school districts and other constituents; and (9) successful experience with curriculum management, academic assessment, and accreditation.
Responsibilities: The Dean will report to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs with the following responsibilities:
· Overseeing the academic programs offered in the School of Education.
· Leading individuals and teams of faculty/staff to respond to student and K-12 school needs.
· Working with faculty and administrators to develop programs and courses for online and off-campus delivery.
· Overseeing the assessment and accreditation process.
· Directing the academic process to facilitate student outcomes and faculty development.
· Obtaining professional support to advance School of Education development.
· Evaluating assessment plans for all majors, retention of students, academic advising, recruitment, and other related areas.
· Obtaining professional support to advance School of Education development.
· Preparing budget requests in support of School of Education programs.
· Establishing policies and incentives that promote the mission of Northern State University.
The School offers undergraduate degrees in elementary and secondary education, special education, health and physical education, sport marketing and administration, human performance and fitness, as well as psychology. Graduate degrees are offered in elementary and secondary educational administration, guidance and counseling, teaching and learning, and e-learning. The School currently employs 22 full-time faculty.
