North Side Community School is a PreK - 8th grade charter public school in the City of St. Louis founded in 2009 with an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The most important word in our name is community. We are a community of small classrooms (15 to 18 students per class), amazing educators, and caring parents working every day to ensure our children succeed!
North Side Community School operates across three campuses (early childhood center, elementary campus, and middle school campus). We are free (no tuition), public, and open to all. Compensation
With a minimum starting salary of $35,000 for degreed candidates, we offer a generous compensation package including an array of benefits including assistance with advanced education.
Position Summary
North Side Community School is seeking full-time teacher assistants for immediate openings and to begin in the 2023-2024 school year. If you hold a Bachelors (preferably in education) with a passion for children of all ages, experience creating a positive and highly engaging classroom environment, and have a talent for applying strong instructional and classroom management strategies WE WANT TO MEET YOU!
Essential Functions:
Assist teachers in creating small groups in Reading, English Language Arts, and/ or Math.
Creating small group lesson plans to assist students in closing academic misconceptions.
Develops students’ concepts of responsibility, cooperation, social skills, and core values.
Providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Providing appropriate feedback regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Conducting ongoing assessment of student growth and progress and modifying instructional methods to meet individual student needs when the lead teacher approves.
Grading students’ material.
Communicating social/ academic concerns with the lead teacher or dean of students.
Ensuring that student behavior conforms with NSCS policies and establishes and maintains high standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective teaching-learning environment.
Collaborate with other faculty in the delivery of proper instructional approaches, working to serve all learning styles and needs.
Participates in faculty and professional meetings and development sessions.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the principal or the designate.

Education: Bachelors or 60 Credit Hours Preferred
Certification: Paraprofessional/ Substitute Certification (Preferred)
