POSITION: 21st Century Academic Coordinator

REPORTS TO: 21st Century Program Coordinator
COORDINATES WITH: Principals and staff in 21st Century Extended Day schools, Nashua School District Curriculum Coaches, Nashua School District leadership, community partners

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The 21st Century Program creates a safe and positive afterschool environment where every student has an opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The Academic Coordinator develops, implements, and coordinates the academic alignment of the Nashua District’s curriculum with the 21st Century afterschool program. The Academic Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and analyzing student data to identify strategies to improve student academic and social and emotional outcomes. The Academic Coordinator collaborates with Nashua School District leadership, curriculum staff, teachers, and school administrators, as well as community partners, to enhance students’ academic success during out of school time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Current NH Teacher Certification required and experience implementing project-based learning strategies preferred.
- Experience coaching afterschool professionals preferred.
- Experience working in an afterschool setting and/or summer school setting preferred.
- An understanding and or experience using school data systems and student performance data (CAYEN, Performance Plus, Star Testing, i-Ready, X2) strongly preferred.
- Ability to foster team collaboration and positive school-community relationships, and a desire to create a safe and positive learning environment with a clear commitment to meeting the needs of all students.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and use of technology is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with school faculty to identify and recruit students from target student populations to enroll in the 21st Century Extended Day Program.
- Develop and Implement strategies alongside the 21st Century Program Coordinator to meet the Governance Performance Results Act (GPRA) measures as required by the New Hampshire Department of Education.
- Work with Nashua School District data professionals to interpret student data including New Hampshire Department of Education 21CCLC survey data, 21CCLC Annual Reports, Performance Plus Data, Attendance Records, Power Scholars Academy STAR Testing data, and other student assessments, to identify trends in students’ academic and social and emotional well being.
- Increase opportunities for students’ families to engage in their children’s learning byway of professional development, family workshops and events.
- Increase opportunities for professional development in curriculum and instruction to strengthen program staff as they work to better support students’ academic and social and emotional well being.
- Remain both knowledgeable and connected to community wide initiatives which might support the academic and social and emotional well being of 21st Century Extended Day students and their families.
- Identify and develop opportunities for the 21st Century Extended Day program to utilize school day technologies, specifically for current NSD licensed programs and online measurable platforms.
- Work with 21st Century key staff, school principals, teachers and curriculum staff to integrate after-school activities with the school curriculum, and utilize after-school time to address the specific academic needs of individual students.
- Communicate program opportunities within the school community to encourage student referrals and program participation.
- Work with local colleges and universities to provide opportunities for college students to engage with the 21st Century Extended Day program.
PHYSICAL /MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Physically performs sedentary work exerting up to 20 pounds of force infrequently, up to 10 pounds occasionally and /or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, will include walking or standing for brief periods of time. Occasionally reach above shoulders, kneel and bend. Mental demands requiring decision making, analytical and organizational skills in order to achieve work objectives, draw daily operational conclusions, solve practical problems, use computer technology and to present information for use by administration in making decisions.
