Homeroom Assistant Teacher
Latin School of Chicago is seeking Assistant Teachers for grades JK-4 in self-contained classrooms beginning in late August. The Assistant Teacher program goals are to provide each assistant teacher with an authentic teaching and learning experience under the supervision of a team of lead teachers. Candidates should be interested in pursuing a career in the education field. A bachelor’s degree is required. The role of the assistant teacher can vary by grade depending on the needs of the team and the experience of the assistant teacher. The roles of assistant teacher as a support to the lead teacher and the students may include (but are not limited to):
- Planning units and lessons
- Preparing materials
- Researching best practices
- Organizing student work
- Assessing and providing feedback on student work
- Updating the classroom websites
The starting salary for this full-time position is $20,000, but additional stipends are possible for other work within the school. A stipend for graduate work is included in the benefits package. Contracts are distributed on a yearly basis for up to three years total for this position.
