Dedicated School Staffing is proud to support Black River Local Schools for the recruitment of substitute teaching opportunities. Special education aides/paraprofessionals play an important role in our schools by assisting students with special educational needs.
Responsibilities
- Physically able to do work which requires standing for many hours.
- Has health and temperament to successfully cope with children.
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of the teacher.
- Ensures that students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- Guide children in working and playing harmoniously with each other.
- Keeps students safe and engaged.
- Exhibits proper classroom management techniques.
- Understands building and classroom policy and procedures.
- Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
- Helps maintain individual records for each child.
- Documents lesson plans.
- Maintains student records/performance.
- Follows the Individualized Education Program (IEP) of the student.
- Assists with preparation of materials for use in special education programs under the direction of classroom teachers.
- Assist disabled children with daily living skills (i.e., feeding, toileting) vocational preparation, and mobility training as directed by the classroom teacher.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Clean criminal background.
- Three (3) positive professional references.
- Experience working with special needs school aged children.
After Hire (Contingent)
- Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license.
- FBI & BCI Background checks dated within 365 days of hire (Cost varies per agency).

- Part-time; on-call;
