Pay rate is as follows:
$95/day for County Certified Substitute  (Holds a Substitute Teachers Credential- State of New Jersey -  issued by a County Superintendent of Schools)
$100/day for NJ State Certified Teachers  (holds a NJ Teaching Certification - CE, CEAS, Provisional, or Standard)

Please complete the applitrack application and upload the following documents-
  • Transcripts
  • Resume
  • Certificates (County or State)
  • Criminal History Review (see below)
  • Reference letters
  • Once all documents are submitted and reviewed, you may be contacted for an interview.
  • Note you will need to obtain test results from a TB/Mantoux. The form can be found at the below link located on the front page of the District website, under Substitutes wanted

If you need to attain a State of NJ County Issued Substitute Teachers's Credential, please follow the below information and make an appointment with Ally Lewis once completed.

How to obtain a New Jersey Substitute Teacher Credential, as required by the State of New Jersey, the following additional procedures must be followed.
  1. Have your college or university mail official transcripts directly to the office of the Superintendents, Wanaque Public Schools, 973-A Ringwood Avenue, Haskell, NJ 07420.  To qualify for the Substitute Teacher certificate, an applicant must have a minimum of 60 college credits.
 
  1. Obtain a Criminal History Review from the State of New Jersey (see below instructions for obtaining Criminal History)
 
  1. Once you have the following documents, call to make an appointment with Ally Lewis at the above number. All forms are sent from our office to the Certification Officer at the Passaic County Department of Education Office.
 
  • Transcripts
  • Criminal History Clearance
  • County Substitute Certificate Application (form on the District's front page of our Website under the Substitutes Wanted icon)
  • Oath of Allegiance (form on the District's front page of our Website under the Substitutes Wanted icon)
  • Check/money order in the amount of $125 made payable to the Commissioner of Education

Criminal History Background Check
Criminal History / Fingerprinting:  Please go to the following  website     https://nj.gov/education/crimhist/index.html

New Applicants or applicants that were fingerprinted before to February 21, 2003, should select “New Administration Fee Request”.

If you were fingerprinted after February 21, 2003, please select “Archive Application Request. You will need your PCN # from your original fingerprinting clearance letter.

New Applicants: When on the site, fill out the needed information. See website for current fee for new applicants for school employment.  There is a $10.00 administrative fee that is charged by the Department of Education plus a convenience fee charged by the vendor NicUSA.

You will then be directed to schedule a fingerprinting session
It is IMPERATIVE that you be on time. If you are late, they will not take you and you will need to reschedule.


Archiving of fingerprints:
Candidates who have been fingerprinted after February 21, 2003, and have broken continuity (have not worked in the past school yearneed to have their fingerprints archived.
See the Office of Student Protection Unit website for the updated cost to Archive. There is a $1 fee charged by NICUSA.

Click on Archive Application Request and follow the instructions, as follows.
Enter PCN Number (if this is your 1st archive request, you can obtain this number from your original MorphoTrust receipt. If this is a subsequent archive request, you would use the previous PCN number, if needed that can be found on the Office of Student Protection Unit Website, by putting in your social security number and birth date.

Click on submit to complete this transaction.  If successful, a confirmation page will be displayed with a transaction number and an e-payment confirmation number. Print this page for your records.

The applicant/employee will be able to print the employment history and validates that the applicant/employee has successfully completed the criminal history record check process.
This document is needed for the packet that we will send to the Passaic County Certification Officer for your NJ County Substitute Teacher Credential,
