Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call
Pay Rate: $100/Day
About the Role
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking patient, dependable, and compassionate Substitute Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with disabilities when regular staff are absent. This role is essential in helping students access their education, follow individualized plans, and participate meaningfully in the school day. Substitute aides work closely with teachers, intervention specialists, and support teams to maintain continuity of services in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students with a range of disabilities (academic, behavioral, physical, developmental)
- Assist in implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as directed by certified staff
- Support students with communication, social skills, and engagement in classroom activities
- Help with personal care tasks as needed (e.g., mobility assistance, toileting, feeding), following training and safety guidelines
- Use behavior-support strategies and follow behavior intervention plans consistently
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal
- Assist with adaptive equipment, assistive technology, or sensory tools as directed
- Maintain a calm, supportive presence during challenging behaviors or transitions
- Document observations or incidents according to school procedures
Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain a positive, structured learning environment
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Clean criminal background checks
- Ability to work with students with diverse needs in a patient, respectful, and professional manner
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow directions, routines, and individualized plans
- Physical ability to assist with lifting, positioning, or mobility support when required
Adherence to the Pennsylvania Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with students with disabilities or in special education settings
- Training in de-escalation, crisis intervention, or behavior management
Familiarity with IEPs, assistive technology, or adaptive equipment
