Instructional/Educational Coordination
Description
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education required, Master's Degree in Special Education preferred
- Valid Supervisory Certification in Special Education issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Five (5) Years Experience in Special Education
- Knowledge of discipline and current research
- Ability to interact with parents, students and staff in a manner that demonstrates respect and dignity
- Act 34 Clearance, Act 151 Clearance, FBI Clearance (self-paid)
- Act 126 & Act 71 Training Certificates
- Pre-Employment Drug Screening (self-paid)
- Letter of Interest, Resume, and Application Directly through the District Website
- Assist teachers in the development of quality Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assist teachers in the implementation of Best Practice in the education of students with special needs as recommended by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Coordinate the completion of the required Special Education documents for students receiving special education services
- Conduct training for teachers and Paraprofessionals relating to best practice procedures for students with special education needs
- Collaborate with community agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive services to District students
- Assist in the development of the policies and procedures for Special Education programs
- Coordinate the assignments of students needing special education services who are enrolled in the District’s Special Education program.
- Work collaboratively with building Principals and District administrators to resolve issues and ensure the effective and efficient provision of Special Education programs and services.
- Collaborate with the Director of Special Education and other Special Education Supervisors to create staff development programming for Special Education personnel, related services providers, School Counselors for 504 plans, GIEP, teachers, para-educators, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate frequently and clearly with building administrators, parents, guardians, and care-givers. Resolve issues/concerns and respond to requests for information or assistance in a timely fashion.
- Use Sapphire data system to monitor disciplinary, attendance and Special Education data to meet federal and state timelines and requirements (evaluations, IEPs, manifestations, communications, etc) and the development of appropriate actions, if needed, to remain within compliance.
- Collaborate with teachers and building administrators to monitor the academic performance of students with IEPs in order to facilitate the appropriate development of IEP goals, SDIs, behavioral plans, and other supports.
- Serve as building LEA for IEP meetings when necessary.
- Liaison with outside agencies, related services staff, and out-of-District placement advisors.
- Other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Terms of Employment:
12 months, 260 day Schedule
