Description: Behavior Assistant needed to work with students with challenging behavioral needs in a special education facility. The succcessful candidate will be assigned to a classroom to support the students and classroom staff. All assignments will be determined by OAC Administration. The Behavior Assistant will provide targeted behavioral supports to students in classroom in compliance with individualized behavior intervention plans. They will receive specialized training to provide behavioral interventions through training videos and some direct instruction from the Behavior Consultant. No direct supervision from the BC will be provided. The Behavior Assistant will engage in all classroom duties as assigned by the classroom teacher. This includes personal care, behavioral support and instructional support for all students. Potential to support a student one-on-one at times may occur to support a student with high behavioral needs.
Minimum one year commitment to the district required.
Qualifications: Qualified individual must have experience working with students with moderate to severe cognitive impairments and behaviors. Moderate to heavy lifting required (up to 75 pounds). High school diploma required. Coursework in special education, child development, and/or applied behavior analysis is preferred. CPR/First Aid Training required or will be provided. CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training required or will be provided. RBT Certification is NOT required.
Job Type: School Year + Summer School Session - 205 days;
Schedule: Hourly - 7.5 hours per day
Pay: To be determined per qualifications and experience. $13.50+ to $27.00+ per hour
