After School Math/Reading Teacher (Monday, Weds, Friday, Saturday)

Hourly Position: 2.5 Hours each day, from February 7 to May 24, 2017

Job Summary:   
After School Math/Reading Teacher is accountable to the After-School Coordinator and the Principal and functions as a member of the Hope Academy team, which consists of classroom teachers, instructional support staff, school social workers, the principal, and the administrative assistant. As teacher, this person is responsible for developing students' academic skills through courses of study and implementing district approved curriculum; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing feedback regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and activities. As After School Math/Reading Teacher, s/he is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive after-school numeracy and literacy program which aligns with the school-wide numeracy and literacy program; and for working with school and community groups, such as the Leadership Team, to help all students reach their highest potential.

Additional Job Expectations: 
Participate in staff development activities, staff meetings, in-service trainings, retreats, continuing education courses, and/or professional organizations, school functions including but not limited to, award banquets, carnivals, graduation, etc.

Qualifications: 
The minimum qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of the job such as education, competencies, experience, knowledge and skills. This should include any specialized knowledge and expertise applicable to the job.
•           Teaching degree from an accredited college or university, certification preferred (or provisional certification with intent to become fully certified).
•           Trained in Sheltered Instruction Observation protocol (SIOP) and effective instruction for English Learners is preferred.
•           Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally impaired adolescents is preferred.
