Title:  Technician II, Generator Services

Under general supervision, performs field service repairs, maintenance service and troubleshooting of emergency generators for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD), including automatic transfer switches, batteries, and load banks.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Operates, maintains, repairs, and tests, all emergency generators, connections, and transfer switches on each site of DCSD where an emergency generator is located, as applicable.
• Coordinates and supervises automatic transfer switches maintenance activities for all the standby generators located in DCSD.
• Performs emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after hours, weekends, and holidays as directed.
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators.
• Detects faulty operations, defective material and reports them and any other unusual situations to the Manager.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five (5) years work experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s license required.
• Facilities Management Certification preferred.
• Continuous experience and/or education preferred.
