Title: Diagnostician

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and conducts evaluations to determine students’ developmental needs, requirements and eligibility for special services; develops Individualized Education Plan (IEPs) for recommended educational interventions; meets with parents to discuss eligibility, develop IEP and process student records.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Evaluates students utilizing a variety of assessment measures, parent interviews, teacher interviews and classroom observations.
• Develops special education eligibility reports based on summary of prior interventions, testing data and data analysis; develops individualized education program if needed, including educational goals, student supports and appropriate service models.
• Schedules eligibility meetings and conducts interview and conference sessions relative to student performance; presents assessment data, data analysis and state guidelines following due process procedures to parents.
• Determines eligibility for special education services.
• Processes completed student documents, including creating file for student records, files for service providers and follow-up documentation for initiation of services.
• Provides technical assistance and training to teachers and other personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Master’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or closely related area is required.
• Minimum of three (3) years professional level special education or closely related experience is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PERMITS: 
• Requires a valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate at level T-5 or above.
