QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate. Valid Kentucky driver’s license. Certified in one or more trades areas. Complete required training to maintain certifications and annual updates. Successful completion of Maintenance Worker I qualifications and successfully complete 5 2 years of employment with Shelby County Public Schools in facility maintenance. Successful completion of required trainings and yearly updates.

JOB GOAL: Perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of District Equipment Including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locksmithing refrigeration and other systems, related equipment and facilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
· Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
· Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
· Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching.
· Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights up to eighty (80) pounds.

· Perform preventive maintenance to district equipment including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locksmithing, refrigeration and other systems and related equipment and facilities.
· Inspect, repair, modify and install District Equipment Including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and other systems and related equipment and facilities.
· Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welders and test equipment utilized in the trade.
· Prepare and maintain routine records related to work performed.
· Rebuild, replace or repair bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
· Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems; repair or replace defective parts in units, equipment and controls.
· Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of electrical equipment and wiring systems as needed.
· Assist other skilled maintenance personnel in cooperative assignments as needed.
· Complete and maintain accurate work orders, including labor and materials used.
· Perform related duties as assigned.

· Applicable building codes, ordinances and regulations of State and local authorities pertaining to specific trades area of concentration.
