School Social Worker

About the Role:

• Provide school-based services designated in a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), including group and individual counseling, collecting behavioral data, goal setting, and communicating with parents and/or community resources
• Provide in-classroom behavioral support, coaching, training, and strategies for meeting the needs of students
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities and behavior strategies/interventions
• Intervene in crisis situations
• Determine appropriate behavior treatment plans through documented evaluations and consultations
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff, parents, and administrators
• Promotes services to students and their families within the context of multicultural understanding and competence that enhances families’ support of students learning experiences
• Determine appropriate community resources to provide support and services to students and families.

Qualifications of the School Social Worker:

• Master’s in Social Work (MSW) required
• Licensure specific to the Michigan Department of Education
• Previous experience supporting the success of students within schools is a plus!
