Job Details: A Personal Attendant is assigned to work one-on-one with a student(s) to meet the needs of their IEP. Student(s) and/or building(s) assignment may change at any time based on the changing needs of student(s).
Workdays: Monday - Friday; 6.75 work hours per day (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period); 189 workdays per school year; start and end time varies based upon assigned position and school building (number of work days for the 2025/26 school year will be pro-rated to date-of-hire if hired after the start of the school year)
Rate-of-Pay for 2025/26 School Year: $18.00 per hour (PLUS $1.00/hr for BA degree OR $2.00/hr total for MA degree) -- pending upcoming approval of tentative Negotiated Agreement effective for 8/1/2025
Benefits Include:
- -- longevity pay – eligible for longevity pay of fifty cents ($ .50) per hour after five (5) years-of-service completed with LCS
- -- paid holidays – eligible to receive pay for eight (8) specified holidays that fall within the personal attendant’s work year
- -- paid sick days – accrued at rate of one and a quarter (1.25) days per month, total of fifteen (15) days per school year
- -- paid personal leave – eligible for up to three (3) days per school year (new employees are eligible after 90 days of employment)
- -- additional paid personal leave – may be eligible for additional paid personal leave each school year based upon total sick leave balance
- -- medical insurance – eligible to elect single or family medical insurance, which includes: medical, dental, vision, and prescription medications (cost varies per coverage-level elected)
- -- life insurance – a term life insurance policy for $30,000 (district covers cost)
- -- supplemental and/or dependent life insurance – eligible to elect additional, supplemental life insurance or dependent life insurance (cost varies per coverage-level elected)
- -- enrollment into the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
Required Qualifications:
- -- Educational Aide Permit: must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio State Board of Education (SBOE) - cost of $25 paid for by the employee each school year
Additional Employment Requirements:
- all school employees must be able to successfully pass a BCI and FBI criminal background check (prior to employment; cost of $47.25 paid for by the employee)
- all school employees must be able to successfully pass a drug test (prior to employment; district covers cost)
Union: the position is covered under the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Chapter 120 (OAPSE 120) union contract
