Description
Title: Special Education Teacher for Middlefork School- Join our team at the areas public therapeutic day school! Class sizes are typically between 6-8 students and each classroom has a paraprofessional to provide support. Training and development in IEP writing, behavior deescalation, and lesson planning is provided.
Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor's in Education from an accredited institution
Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques
Experience working with students with emotional disabilities preferred
Certification: LBS1 (Short-term Emergency Certificate accepted if enrolled in courses toward LBS1)
Terms of Employment: 180 days: Full-Time Permanent
Function: To promote a safe, caring, learning environment to students with disabilities by offering opportunities to develop academic and social skills and to improve self-esteem and self-control. This position is in a public therapeutic day school that serves the students of schools from our member districts who have not been successful in their home schools. Class and caseload sizes are very small (usually between 4 and 8).
Benefits: Salary is based on the current salary schedule. Board paid health and life insurance, sick days, personal days and paid TRS. Professional development registration, travel, lodging, and food are paid by the organization. $3,000 sign-on bonus for three years of service. Retention bonus of $1500 every three years.
