Summary   The Business Operations instructional program is designed to prepare students for postsecondary education and/or entry-level employment and/or to successfully earn the following industry-validated credentials: Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification, QuickBooks Certified User (QBCU) certification, NAFTrack certification, and others.
 
The Business Operations instructional program prepares students to provide administrative support to managers and executives within large, medium, and small businesses and organizations. Students who successfully complete the Business Operations program’s coherent sequence of instruction will develop an in-depth, practical understanding of operational and administrative business principles and practices. The Business Operations program includes instruction in office procedures, project management, internal and external customer service, business communications, word processing and data entry, office machines operation and maintenance, public relations, records management, report preparation, and business law and ethics. Throughout the Business Operations instructional program, students learn and practice valuable real-world email, word processing, presentation, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and database skills using industry-standard office productivity software.  Teacher will also advise Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

  • Teaches skills, knowledge, and business attitudes through courses in general business to secondary pupils, using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Plans a business program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student experiments; organizes laboratory activities for optimal learning.
  • Demonstrates business concepts by use of business experiments, and standard or teacher prepared charts, sketches, and other instructional aids.
  • Provides individual or small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils and to accommodate circumstances where a variety of projects are being worked on simultaneously.
  • Instructs pupils in proper use, care, and safe handling of business equipment.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions, laboratory sessions, and field trips.
  • Evaluates each pupil’s growth in knowledge and skills in course being taught.
  • Selects and requests books, instructional aids, science equipment, chemicals, and supplies, and maintains inventory records as required.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Identifies pupil’s needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  • Assists pupils in selection and development of individual research projects.
  • Cooperates with school administration in providing science displays and programs for the school and community, and in sponsoring science activities.
  • Communicates with parents and school counselors in pupil progress.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
  • Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities.

    Education and/or Experience  Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and/or CTE certification in area appropriate to assignment.   One to two years related experience preferred.

    Must be highly qualified in area of assignment.  Valid AZ teaching certificate with appropriate approved area or endorsement.  Structured English Immersion (SEI) required.  CTE Business/Marketing required.  Acceptable CTE Certifications below:
