Classroom Assistant – Preschool - School Year Position
Dedicated School Staffing is proud to support the Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West (ESCLEW). This organization provides special education resources and support to schools and students throughout Lucas County and the surrounding communities. The ESCLEW sees their work for these schools as vitally important to the growth and development, and ultimately the success of these students, and we join them in this view.
We are seeking a Classroom Assistant to support students within a designed school site that is supported by the ESCLEW (included West Toledo, Maumee and Anthony Wayne) for preschool classrooms. Instructional Assistants, under direction of the classroom teacher, provides instruction and support to students with emotional, physical, behavioral challenges as a part of the special education programs in preschool classrooms. A Classroom Assistant will be assigned to one classroom, student, or group of students for the duration of the school year, with opportunities to continue in this role in the future.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required – Associate Degree or higher preferred
- Ohio Department of Education Substitute Educational Aide Permit ($25), or higher license or ability to obtain license
- Certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) required and will be provided
Experience with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports
(PBIS) preferred - Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
- Ability to restrain students over 150 lbs.
- Occasionally lift and/or move materials up to 50 lbs.
