Description

MS Science Teacher Needed!!

Appropriate interaction with all students and their parents, and work in close collaboration with other teachers within the department, colleagues, and the school administration. Demonstrate strong teaching skills, exceptional organization, appropriate classroom management, and be child-centered in all aspects of the position. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to increase student achievement. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide content and relevant learning experiences based on maturity level and general interests of the students.

Description of Duties:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the common core state standards, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
  • Plan and execute lessons aligned to common core state standards and the Next Generation Science Standards for Middle School Science curriculum; push in to asssist another teacher when needed or oversee a couple of intervention classes
  • Provide differentiated learning experiences for the range of skill levels and developmental needsof the students
  • Adapt lessons for students with IEP's or Section 504 Plans, as appropriate. Participate in Special Education staffing with colleagues and parents
  • Administer progress monitoring, benchmarking, and common assessments. Analyze data results to guide instruction
  • Have a working knowledge of RtI and the referral process
  • Submit lesson plans to Principal or designee as required
  • Discipline students in a fair and consistent manner, aligned to school district approved policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular communication with parents. Maintain individual webpage on school website
  • Maintain all instructional spaces, including the outdoor facilities with the health and safety of the students and staff in mind. Report any unsafe conditions to school officials
  • Complete all records and reports required by law and as requested by the school administration in a timely manner
  • Meet accepted standards of professional behavior
  • Exhibit professionalism and commitment through punctuality and attendance
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and serve on staff committees, as appropriate
  • Contribute to fostering a spirit of team and collaboration with all faculty and staff
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with junior high students
  • Illinois Professional Licensure (Elementary K-9 or Secondary 6-12)
  • Appropriate endorsements for MS Science
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adept at consistently incorporating technology in instruction
  • Experience with NWEA MAP and IAR, a plus
  • Bilingual, a plus

Reports to:
Middle School Science reports directly to the Principal and/or designee

Terms of Employment:
School calendar as annually adopted by the Board of Education
Salary and benefits as defined within the teachers' contract and salary schedule

Start Date:
New Hire Orientation - August 7 and August 8, 2024. Teacher Institute Days - August 12 and August 13, 2024. First day of school - August 14, 2024.. Hours are 8am-3pm, Monday- Friday, except on days when there is a staff meeting, mentoring meeting, committee meeting, which goes until 4pm. Late hours for P/T conferences and Parent Literacy or Math Night as well as 8th Grade Graduatio are required.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $48,851..00 - $67,262 per year dependent on years of experience. District will give up to 10 years of credit for experience.

**Opportunities are available for After School Tutoirng and Summer School at a rate of $55.00 an hour. Potential opportunity for coaching and club sponsors, which are stipend positions per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Also, translators receive a $600.00 stipend per year and individuals with an ESL endorsementt receive a one-time stipend of $2000.00.**
