Description
Primary Purpose:
Work under close supervision and follow established procedures to maintain accounting records and process accounts payables according to standard accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification/Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Two years accounting experience in a public education environment preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Ability to work with numbers in accurate and rapid manner
Proficient skills in spreadsheets, databases and other computer software
Proficient skills in file maintenance
Proficiency in use of office machines
Strong organization skills with the ability to meet established deadlines
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Strong customer service skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain and update vendor information in software system and in paper files.
- Maintain and update vendor lists and post on department website.
- Maintain documentation for board approved purchases.
- Work with district personnel to facilitate Request-For-Proposal (RFP) and bidding processes.
- Work cooperatively with district personnel to determine purchasing specifications, sources, availability, pricing and shipping information and costs.
- Compile and review requisition documentation for purchases.
- Print purchase orders daily and prepare for distribution.
- Facilitate approval process for purchases through corporate accounts.
- Assist with maintaining purchasing manual for district.
- Keep informed of and comply with state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain punctuality in all areas.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed.
- All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
