Elementary School (Pre-Kindergarten Teacher)

SUMMARY
Caribbean School seeks an energetic, experienced Pre-Kinder/Early Childhood educator who is passionate about working with young children and committed to offering our youngest students an enriching and developmentally-appropriate learning environment. Creates lesson plans; administers guidance, praise and constructive criticism; instructs students in major pre-K subjects (math, science, reading, language arts, etc.) as part of a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans based on clear learning standards and objectives
Design and prepare classroom projects and instructional resources/activities
Ensure lesson plans are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with school curriculum.
Use a variety of assessments that frequently measure student progress toward the school’s content and mathematics standards.
Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
Observe and evaluate individual student performance.
Correct papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
Prepare and distribute required reports.
Share responsibility for grade level and school-wide activities
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.
Participate in ongoing training sessions and regular professional development.
Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
Knowledge of current Early Childhood theory and practice.
Meet with parents and students outside of class as needed
Manage student behavior in the classroom by applying appropriate behavioral modification techniques.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education or related subject matter. Masters preferred.
Relevant prior work experience
Current Teaching License (Elementary K-3 and/or Early Childhood)
Experience working with relevant classroom technology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must enjoy working and learning with children
Proficiency in English
