SENIOR SYSTEMS ANALYST - OFFICE OF INFORMATION SERVICES

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Senior Systems Analyst - Office of Information Services.
This title is governed by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission; meaning that as a candidate for this position, you will be placed as a provisional employee. At a later date you will be required to take an examination administered by the Civil Service Commission. Candidate must score and rank high enough on this examination in order to remain in the position as a permanent employee.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of experience in the design, installation, and operation of programs for electronic data processing equipment and/or in the design and implementation of systems for electronic data processing application. Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication. Experience with Kronos Timekeeping System at power user/admin level is highly desirable.
Under direction, plans, conducts and develops complex analytic studies of existing operations and programs to determine feasibility of conversion to data processing system; organizes and directs the execution of systems analysis and design tasks performed by assigned systems analysts; does other related duties as required. Responsibilities
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of the following:
1. Knowledge and experience with Local Area and Wide Area Networks including network design and troubleshooting, routing protocols, installation and configuration of network switches and routers preferred
2. Experience with Enterprise-level Wireless Networks including design, monitoring and troubleshooting Wireless LANs in a large network environment preferred planning, deployment and troubleshooting skills preferred.
3. Experience with Microsoft Windows 2008 Server Operating System and Active Directory including planning, deployment and troubleshooting skills preferred.
4. Knowledge and experience with network backup software and different back up schemes in a SAN environment preferred.
5. Strong knowledge of Personal Computers and peripherals preferred
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office 2010 productivity tools preferred
7. Strong analytical skills for gathering and analyzing data and producing reports from different systems preferred
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plans and conducts complex technical studies of operations relative to the development or revision of operational procedures. Conducts feasibility studies requiring detailed analysis of existing functions and preparation of cost estimates to determine advisability of adopting data processing programs. Develops and participates in studies to determine effectiveness of programs, policies, methods, procedures and forms and recommends improved courses of action. Participates in conferences with administrative officers and operating supervisors to discuss new or revised plans, programs, procedures and the results of evaluation studies. Aids in the preparation of schedules outlining essential steps to be taken in installation of and/or conversion to data processing systems. Takes the lead over systems analyst in systems analysis and programming work involved in electronic data processing functions. Aids in preparation of charts, programs and instructions needed to illustrate, explain and implement data processing procedures and programs. Studies procedural difficulties and operating problems and gives advice on their solution. Prepares charts, programs and instructions to illustrate, explain and implement data processing procedures and programs. Appraises adequacy and efficiency of current data processing systems and assists in developing the organizational structure and methods required for the performance of existing new and/or expanded functions. Prepares clear, sound, accurate and informative statistical, financial and other factual reports based on surveys, investigations, and studies containing findings, conclusions and recommendations. Maintains records and files. If assigned to a system project, provides direction and control of the project schedule. Participates in the project organization and scheduling as a project leader. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units. Knowledge of and familiarity with electronic data processing equipment and its selection and application to specific operating requirements. Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in making estimates and analyses of the capacity of existing data processing equipment and/or the degree of utilization made thereof. Reports To

1. Salary Range: $51,359 - $71,239
