The Sioux Falls public schools, the largest school district in South Dakota, serves over 24,000 students. Located in the southeast corner of the state, the public school system has seen growth along with the city of Sioux Falls in recent decades. The current population of Sioux Falls is approximately 165,000 people and is a large draw for technology, health care, retail, construction, financial, and research industries. The District is composed of 22 elementary schools, five middle schools, and five high schools, and an alternative middle school/high school and an alternative elementary school. Several elementary schools also house preschool programs.

Mission Statement

It is the vision of the Sioux Falls School District to provide the opportunities and challenges for each student to succeed as a lifelong learner in a changing world. The District values a highly trained and committed workforce, continually evaluating and improving their own and student performance. The District recognizes its role as a key contributor to the social, civic and economic foundation of this community. To achieve this vision, we must ignite the hearts and minds of our students, staff, families, the business community and citizens.
