Gulf County is located in Florida's Northwest Panhandle, approximately 35 miles southeast of Panama City and 100 miles southwest of Tallahassee. Although the county is predominately rural, there is a surprising diversity of life-styles and activities in this quaint, picturesque area of Florida. When you are in Gulf County, you will discover "Old Florida." The beauty of our beaches are recognized with our beach at St. Joseph State Park being the recipient of Dr. Beach a.k.a. Dr. Steven Leatherman's list of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S. With 2 elementary, 1 middle and 2 high schools. Gulf District Schools consistently have the highest high school graduation rate of all Florida School Districts, and rank within the top quartile on standard achievement and college admissions test.
