Shirley School District
Shirley School District
Description
We offer all the courses required by the state of Arkansas. We also require one additional credit in math. We require a total of twenty-one credits for graduation. Our small classes (K-12) size allows extensive student-teacher interaction. Each of our students receives extensive training in computer skills. We are very proud of the 1000 seat auditorium in which our award-winning drama department is housed. Our elementary curriculum ascribes to sound, tried methods of instruction, including ELLA; Accelerated Reader; Effective Literacy; and Step Up to Writing. Extra-Curricular Activities: We believe that our students benefit from extra-curricular activities. We also believe in keeping our students as busy as possible. Some activities that we offer include the following: Basketball (Boys and Girls), Track, Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Golf, Dance Team, FFA, FBLA, Beta, Student Council, Art Club, Drama Club, Pee Wee Basketball, Boy and Girl Scouts, FCA, Band, Chorus, and FCCLA. Facilities: We are very proud of our facilities. All of our classrooms are air conditioned and well maintained. We have a seperate elementary school that houses grades K-6. The high school houses grades 7-12. We have a gymnasium, a 1000 seat auditorium, and a band room shared by both campuses.
