Description
Pottsville School District, the fastest growing school district in Arkansas, is a mixture of the small school personal touch and big school progressiveness. The Board of Education, administration, faculty, and staff are committed to offering a comprehensive educational program that is sensitive to the needs of the students. The district is committed to offering students the opportunity to achieve academically in an environment conducive to producing positive self-esteem and self-actualization. Fully accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges, students in the district consistently score above the state and national averages on achievement tests. The district is a recognized leader in the use of technology as an instructional tool and served as the regional site for technology inservice sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Parents in the district are able to access their child’s grades and communicate with teachers over the Internet using Edline, a service that allows parents to monitor their child’s progress from home. In the past four years, approximately forty thousand square feet of new, modern facilities have been added within the district. These include new fine arts areas for drama, instrumental music, vocal music, and art. New instructional areas for family and consume science and new technology labs have also been added. In addition, a new football stadium, complete with track/field facilities was completed in December 2001. These modern facilities, combined with a well-qualified faculty (50% have Master’s Degrees) work hand in hand to produce a learning atmosphere that helps students realize their potential in a positive school climate. Pottsville Elementary School serves students in grades K - 4th. Pottsville Middle Grades contains students in grades 5th – 8th. Pottsville High School houses grades 9th – 12th. The district has approximately 1,150 students in grades K – 12.
